31. Assemblog du Jour (IRL): Leggings for Everyone!

Leggings for Everyone!
Warehouse , $93 / Velvet by Graham & Spencer slim pants, $165 / Old Navy maternity / Pier 1 Imports cowgirl boots, $130 / Lacoste

Clearly, these are not the exact articles of clothing I’ve been wearing (except the stripey shirt… I love the stripey shirt). Polyvore has it’s limits, people. This gives you a general idea of one of the outfits I’ve been wearing obsessively, though. I know normally I use these “Assemblog du Jour” posts to fantasize about the fabulous clothing I would buy if I could but I feel like maybe some reality needed to seep into them. Voila!

24. Assemblog du Jour #5: Who Wears Short Shorts?

I have always had a really strange hang up about my legs. They are thick and muscular and whiter than fresh snow. Trust me, I am not winning any Betty Grable contests. I have been ashamed of my legs for most of my life and have stuck to wearing jeans for most of my life.

However, with this new move into scalding hot weather coming up, I’ve been debating whether it is better to have my chunky legs exposed or to be a human sweat sprinkler.

The shorts won.

Besides! Shorts have gotten so cute since the last time I shopped for them! Look at this adorable plaid! (This pair is super comfortable, by the way. Old Navy jeans might not fit me well but their shorts are another story.)

22. Distractions make the best distractions

If you haven’t noticed, I’ve been a little absent lately. The end of my semester and the GRE are drawing nigh so my face has been firmly planted between the pages of various books. One of my favorite distractions has become Polyvore. It’s like all the best parts of playing Barbies but without the risk of stepping on one of her little plastic shoes!

Sadly, I will probably continue this way until May when everything is over. I promise to resurface once in a while when I come up with an outfit I’m particularly proud of.

Spring is finally starting to … spring. We had 80 degree weather two days ago that has transformed into a beautiful April-like 50-60 range. Jackson and I had a lot of fun running around in the 80 degree heat and then we relaxed with the slider door open for the rest of the day.

Come on, slowpoke! I’ve got things to sniff!

Ahhhh…. this is the life.

21. Assemblog du Jour #3: Has Spring sprung yet?

I love this knapsack. I love things that look like they have a history to them and (even though I’m sure the well-worn look was manufactured) this bag just screams “GUESS WHERE I’VE BEEN” to me. I’d love to carry my books in it to class everyday.

I also love these little bird earrings. Marc Jacobs is so good at whimsy.

20. Assemblog du Jour: God Bless Netflix

I have become completely and hopelessly obsessed with watching things instantly on Netflix. Mostly I’ve been reliving my youth by watching entire series of shows I grew up with. First I watched about 7 seasons of Murder She Wrote and now I’m almost to the end of the last season of Roseanne.

Lots of things were unique about that show. Roseanne was the first show centered around a blue collar woman and her family. It tackled a lot of different topics that are still relevant (homosexuality, unemployment, depression, domestic abuse, birth control, abortion.. etc). Not only that, but it is a fantastic time capsule for the fashions of the late 80’s and early 90’s. But do you know what I am most focused on with every episode? Dan’s boatshoe-loafer-type footwear.

This man is the epitome of blue collar, why is he wearing shoes that are meant to be worn during one of the most expensive hobbies in existence? I love them and I have decided that I want my own pair.

Also in this Assemblog, I’ve included some jewelry from the House of Harlow 1960 line. When I heard that Nicole Richie was going to start designing clothing and accessories, I figured it was just going to be a fly-by-night endeavor where she would hire someone and then slap her name on it. I don’t know if that’s really the situation and I don’t care. I love the result.
